Reliance Launches “Vantara,” a National Initiative for Animal Welfare.
Vantara operates within a vast 3,000-acre sanctuary located in the Green Belt of Reliance's Jamnagar Refinery Complex in Gujarat. This sanctuary has been meticulously transformed into a jungle-like environment to provide rescued animals with a natural and enriching habitat for healing and thriving.
The initiative sets new benchmarks in animal care by offering state-of-the-art healthcare facilities, specialized hospitals catering to various species' specific needs, and research and academic centers promoting collaboration and innovation in animal welfare practices.
Vantara collaborates with esteemed international organizations such as the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WWF), Venezuelan National Foundation of Zoos, Smithsonian Institution, and World Association of Zoos and Aquariums. The program has already achieved significant milestones by rescuing over 200 elephants and various other animals from precarious situations, undertaking vital rehabilitation projects for endangered species like rhinos, leopards, and crocodiles, and participating in international rescue missions.
By partnering with national institutions like the National Zoological Park, Assam State Zoo, Nagaland Zoological Park, and Sardar Patel Zoological Park, Vantara aims to establish a comprehensive network for animal welfare across India. This initiative represents a beacon of hope globally, showcasing how forward-thinking institutions can contribute to biodiversity conservation efforts effectively.
